Mountain Bike Lake Tahoe. Join us for a day mountain biking and gravel biking in Tahoe City, Lake Tahoe on some sweet trails and singletrack. New courses for 2024. Juniors and all NICA riders welcome. Gravel bikes are welcome!

XC Race Beginner/Novice (12 miles, 1 lap of 12 mile course)

  • Age Group: Juniors 16 & under, Junior 17-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

XC Race (24 miles, 2 laps of 12 mile course)

  • Age Group: Juniors 16 & under, Junior 17-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

XC Race (32 miles, 2 laps of 16 mile course)

  • Age Group: Juniors 16 & under, Junior 17-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

4 Hour Race (laps on the 12 mile course)

  • XC Races
    • 12 mile course, fast lap times approximately 50 minutes
      • Beginner/Novice is one lap, 24 mile XC is two laps
    • 16 mile course, fast lap times approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes
      • 32 mile XC is two laps
      • Course is all of the 12 mile course + 4 additional miles/lap
  • 4 hour race is timed from 8:00AM to 12:00PM
    • Held on the 12 mile XC course
    • Most laps win

Timing & Transition Area

  • Mandatory dismount through timing area
  • Racers only…..no teammates

Team Pit Area

  • The Team Pit Area is located at the main venue.  Teams are provided with designated patch of ground to set up their support on a first come first serve basis.  Teams may set up on Friday afternoon and Saturday race morning (there will be no security on Friday night).  Team Pit Area closes at 8:00PM Friday night and opens at 6:00AM Saturday morning.

6:00-7:15AM Athlete Check-in & Registration Highlands Community Center
7:30 AM Race briefing Highlands Community Center
8:00 AM Race Start Highlands Community Center
11:30 AM Meal Highlands Community Center
12:00 PM 4 hour event conclusion Highlands Community Center
11:00 AM Awards Start and Continue as races finish Highlands Community Center
  • No music, ear plugs on course
  • Helmets-CPSC, ANSI or SNELL certified helmets must be worn at all times while on course
  • Race numbers-must be displayed on the front of handle bars at all times while on course
  • Sportsmanship is required.  Respecting the trail system and ALL those using it is paramount.
  • Passing
    • Vocalize your intent when passing “passing the right/left, etc.”
    • Pass in a location that works, not in a tight corner, etc.
  • Right of Way
    • This is not a closed course event.  Pay attention and yield to other non-racers (bike and foot) when necessary.
    • Represent yourself with class
  • For the 4-hour once on the course, a rider must complete his or her lap.  Substitutions or restarts can only be made at the main timing area.

Follow the course, no exceptions

  • Consecutive laps are allowed, 4-hour team
  • Cancelling a lap
    • A team has the option of cancelling a teammates lap and restarting the lap with another teammate.  The start of the cancelled lap time will be the start of the new lap.
  • For the 4 hr race, all riders must start their final lap before 12:00 PM, and complete their final lap by 1:10 PM in order for the lap to count.

The Lake Tahoe Mountain Bike Race main venue is located at the Highlands Community Center (AKA Tahoe XC), 925 Country Club Dr, Tahoe City, CA 96145 a few miles east of Tahoe City, CA.

Awards

  • We provide the top 3 finishers in each category (male and female) with a commemorative prize to honor your finish.
  • You will be able to pick up your award at the awards ceremony.  We will be getting results to the awards booth as fast as possible and once ready you can pick up your award.
  • Categories are broken down as follows:
    • Age Group: Juniors 16 & under, Junior 17-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
